News / Pupils enjoy Jubilee Street Party

Posted Thursday 31 May 2012

Red, white and blue were the order of the day as the whole school turned out for a Jubilee street party. With Nutford Place closed to traffic and bunting and table decorations out in full effect, every single pupil had an experience to remember as they were served lunch whilst seated along the street. The national anthem started proceedings before Father Gerald led the pupils and assembled parents with a special Jubilee Grace. No party would be complete without food and the kitchen staff had done a great job in getting everything ready for the children. Many thanks to must go to the parents that helped bake the cupcakes distributed to each child at the end of lunch.

There are always a host of people to thank when an event of this scale goes ahead: many thanks should go to the Marriot Hotel that first offered the school the chance to use the street. Thanks also to Waitrose that came around the school in the afternoon to offer each child an ice-lolly. The PTA have been a great help once again aiding the organisation of the street party itself, as well as the Jubilee themed activities that took place in school in the afternoon. Lastly, thanks must go to the parents that mucked in before the street party started in order to get everything ready for the children.

Each child received a commemorative T-shirt and medal aas part of the Jubilee celebrations: a gift from the PTA, everyone who attended was sure that all the pupils will remember this very special day.
